Horror Block March 2016 Unboxing & Review

Today we are doing the unboxing and review of the March 2016 Horror Block!  Keep in mind that they are a month behind, so even though this month is April, we are just now getting the April Horror Block.

I got an email about a week ago asking me if Horror Block does themes.

Horror Block doesn’t exactly do themes (unless you want to count the fact that it’s horror) in that they do not get into specifics; like… This month is all about vampires, or This month’s theme is all about werewolves.  I think it’s wise of them to disregard a specific theme as it gives them a chance to really randomize the goodies, not to mention, what if I just don’t like werewolves?  By giving the block a theme I think they would really limit themselves.  What they DO do, however, is hint as to what item you may find in the box (IE next month they are reporting to have something from Hellraiser in the box).

Anyways, I just wanted to answer that email for everyone to read.

Okay, you guys know the drill, but I still gotta point it out.. Horror Block touts to cram over $60.00 value into a $20.00 box.  We shall see.  I’ll break down each item and list what one can find it for price wise online.

Before we jump into the box this go-around, I want to link here my unboxing video:

Okay, let’s jump into the box!

The Ring T-Shirt:

Ya know.. I really can’t remember this movie too much.  I mean, I did see it, but it’s been so long.. I need to load it up and watch it again I suppose.  The t-shirt is cool, but I’m just wondering how many people are gonna know what it’s from.

Value: $15.00 (based on other similar styled t-shirts)

Squishy Zombie:

This little guy is neat.  You can squeeze the crap out of it and it’s guts will “push out”.  It’s a stress reliever.  It also stands on it’s own, really well balanced.

Value: $2.00 (based on similar sized and functioned stress relievers found online)

Walking Dead Abraham:

This is like a Lego on steroids.  Honestly, it doesn’t really fit together all that well.  I actually cut myself while trying to push the plastic together.

Value: $3.00 (based on similar sized put-together figures)

Zombie Hunter Dog Tags:

Pretend you are Abraham with these ZERO (Zombie Emergency Response Operations) Dog Tags.  These are neat as a novelty, but I can’t see myself really ever wearing them.  I might hang them in my rear-view mirror, but I doubt it.

Value: $6.00 (found these exact ones for sale online)

Zombie Back Scratcher:

Got a bad itch to scratch?  These extend to reach wherever you got to scratch!  It has a nice gripping handle, and the hand scratches fairly well.  I’d like it to be a little sharper, but that’s just me.

Value: $8.00 (based on similar style found online)

Zombie Door Stop:

This guys is wicked cool!  I’ll be honest, I’ll never use it as a door stop mainly because I don’t want to scratch up it’s look by having the door rub against it.  I’m going to set it up with all my other zombie “statues” where it’ll fit in perfectly.  This is easily one of my favorite items from this block.

Value: $20.00 (very similar style was found on various websites for this price)

Zombie Hand Cooking Mitt:

Hey, when you get hungry and don’t wanna burn your digits, this is what you need!  It’s fun looking and while I’d love to have a 2nd one (’cause, like, I use both hands when picking up a hot casserole out of the oven), I’m certainly going to use this.

Value: $10.00 (because at the end of the day, it’s just an oven mitt and there is no way I’d pay more for one)

Rue Morgue Magazine Issue #165 :

Just like the cover says, Monsters! Murder! Mayhem! Metal!  This issue features a fairly large article and interview with Rob Zombie.

Value: $10.00 (’cause.. like.. that’s the cover price.. man.)

Preview Card & Content Card:

Content Card just explains what was in the box and the Preview Card tells us that next month we will get something pertaining to Hellraiser!

Value: $0.00

To Recap:

Ring T-Shirt: $15.00

Squish Zombie: $2.00

Abraham: $3.00

Zombie Tags: $6.00

Back Scratcher: $8.00

Door Stop: $20.00

Cooking Mitt: $10.00

Rue Morgue #165: $10.00

Total Value: $74.00 !!!

This month’s Horror Block is most certainly worth the value!  Fourteen bucks over their claim!  To me, that’s perfect!

While we didn’t see a Funko Pop! item for The Ring this month, hopefully we will see one for Hellraiser next month.  That would be fun.
